Narrative:Ex-USAAF 41-33972 (MSN 88-15124) to RAF as Harvard III EX999. No trace of receipt by RAF. Shipped to New Zealand December 1943 on the s.s. "Westmoor". Assembled at Hobsonville, Auckland; Brought On Charge 4 January 1944. Operated for the RAF by the Royal New Zealand Air Force [RNZAF] as NZ1073. To No 42 Squadron, Rongotai, Wellington. Forest fire watching duties from Rotorua October 1945/February 1946. Transferred to RNZAF September 1946.
Written off (destroyed) 10 February 1953, as one of two Harvards which collided near Wigram and crashed. Acting Pilot-Officer F.M. Kinvig (in NZ1084) and Acting Pilot-Officer C.W.Rudd (in NZ1073) both parachuted from their aircraft and survived.
