Narrative:Vickers Wellington Mk.Ia L7787 (WS-J) 9 Squadron, RAF: Written off (destroyed) when lost (Failed To Return) from combat operations over France. All six crew killed. According to the official Air Ministry file into the incident (File AIR 81/888): "Wellington L7787 crashed at Drosay, France, 13 June 1940. Sergeant C B Kircher, Sergeant F D Hardy, Sergeant F R Edwards, Sergeant S F Youngson, Sergeant L W Routledge and Sergeant R Hewitt report of deaths"
Airborne from RAF Honington, Suffolk, as part of a force of 163 aircraft (65 Wellingtons, 64 Hampdens and 34 Whitleys) tasked to attack Pont-de-l'Arche (south of Rouen), France. Written off when crashed after going out of control due to unknown circumstances (possibly hit by Flak/AAA) in the early hours of June 14, 1940. All six crew killed, with Wellington L7787 being the only loss on this raid.

The reported crash location of Drosay is a commune in the Seine-Maritime department in the Normandy region in northern France, in the Pays de Caux, some 25 miles (40 km) southwest of Dieppe, at approximate Coordinates: 49°47′42″N 0°44′29″E
