Narrative:The aircraft departed Croft at 1651hrs with 3,240lb of incendiary bombs along with six other 427 Wellingtons and joined up 150 bombers of the main stream force to attack targets in Lorient, France. On the return flight the aircraft crash landed on level moorland on the south side Blackden Edge, Kinder Scout, near Edale. The aircraft was written off but all the crew survived with various non-lethal injuries:-
