The pilot had flown in two helpers from his base on Cushing Lake near Upsula, Ontario to an outpost camp located on Kearns Lake, Ontario to assist in the winterization of the camp. The pilot was then to return to Cushing Lake to pick up another passenger and supplies. Prior to take-off from Kearns Lake, the pilot indicated that he would be circling the lake to look for one of the camp's boats (which was missing). Hunters in the area observed the aircraft circle the lake several times at low altitude. During one tight turn at low altitude and high engine power, the nose of the aircraft dropped and the aircraft struck the lake.
A search was organized and the aircraft was located mostly submerged (a portion of one wing was above water) in Kearns Lake. Divers and T.S.B. investigators have been dispatched to the site. The pilot was fatally injured.
