Narrative:Takeoff at 21:51 hrs for an operation to Köln in Germany.
The aircraft was coned by searchlights for 3 minutes & intercepted and shot down by night fighter pilot Oberleutnant Hermann Reese of the 2./NJG 1, who was flying a Bf 110 from Venlo airfield in the Netherlands.
Radio operator Sgt Leslie Evetts did not survive. Sergeant John Learned Ives (92827) managed to evade capture and returned to England in December, but was killedin a 271 RCAF Sqdn Dakota incident, 28th April 1945, remembered at Runnymede.
