Operation - Nürnberg, Germany.
Outward-bound, the aircraft was shot down by the night fighter crew of Hauptmann Ehle & Oberfeldwebel Leidenbach of the Stab II./NJG 1, who were flying Bf 110 F-4 G9+AC from St Trond (Sint-Truiden) airfield.

There were four casualties: F/Sgt James D. Follett RNZAF, this 21-year-old pilot was only twenty days in the squadron, Sgt Murray Swann RNZAF, wireless operator, 27 y. - Sgt Frank E. Kearns RNZAF, 20 y. and Sgt John Ramsay, both air gunners. Today, they rest in the Heverlee War Cemetery at Leuven in Vlaams-Brabant.

After being spotted by a Belgian, the fifth crew member, P/O Anthony Ayres, was arrested in civilian clothes in company with August Peters in Cheratte. Both were arrested, Ayres was taken to the Luftwaffe Kommando of Brussels after an interrogation by the GFP.
