Narrative:Takeoff 20:22 hrs local time for an operation to Düsseldorf in Germany.
Homeward-bound, the aircraft crashed into the sea. Probably, it was shot down by night fighter pilot Hauptmann Dr. Horst Patuschka of the 7./NJG 2, who was flying a Ju 88 C-6 from Gilze-Rijen airfield in the Netherlands.
F/Sgt Cleveland Eggleton RCAF, the 23-year-old navigator and the gunner, P/O John R. Agar are buried in Oostduinkerke. The pilot, F/Sgt Richard E. Bertram RCAF rests at Adegem. Nothing of the others (Sgt F.J. Gallagher RCAF and Sgt R.M. George RCAF) was found.
