Narrative:Takeoff at 19:58 hrs local time for an operation to Wilhelmshaven in Niedersachsen.
The aircraft was hit by Flak of the Marine-Flak-Abteilung 222 battery Dangast and on return crashed or ditched into the North Sea.
Two of the crew rest in Denmark:
Second Pilot Sgt Kenneth J. Warner RNZAF was laid to rest in Fovrfelt cemetery, Esbjerg on 13 October.
Observer Sgt Laurence A. Shepherd was found drifted ashore near Hjerpsted (Højer) and was laid to rest in Fovrfelt cemetery in Esbjerg on 20 October.
Wireless Operator/Air Gunner Sgt Frank J. Sears was on 12 October found drifted ashore on German soil and today rests in Kiel War Cemetery.
Pilot P/O Frank B. Boaden RNZAF, Wireless Operator/Air Gunner P/O Frank G.R. Jeffries and Air Gunner Sgt Herbert A. Roberts have no known graves and are commemorated on the Runnymede Memorial.
