Narrative:
Loss of a fuel tank cap during taxiing, flight fuel wastage at Poitiers. According to a rough translation from French into English ofv the official BEA Accident Report:

"The pilot took off at night from Poitiers to the private airfield at Mellay-Viabon for professional reasons. He completely filled the fuel tanks before departure. At 6:30pm, shortly after takeoff, he heard the latch which closed the door to unlock. He then carried out a circuit pattern along runway03 and landed. On the runway, he opens and closes and locks the door before take off again.

After about a half hour flight, he notices the absence of the cap on the left fuel tank. He contacted the control tower at Poitiers to request an inspection of the runway. The cap is found on the taxiway between the fuel pump and the runway. The pilot decided to continue the flight, keeping the fuel selector positioned on the left tank. He closely monitors the tank opening during flight without noticing fuel flow. He landed without further problems at
Mellay-Viabon at 7:30 pm.

On the ground, left tank inspection reveals that twenty liters of fuel were lost during the flight. The pilot likely
wrongly keyed the door. The pilot explained that he certainly forgot the cap on the wing after filling the tank. He used the aircraft regularly for travel in a professional capacity. He attributed his forgetfulness to a lack of attention due to the refueling routine. He said he had not been distracted while refueling".
