Narrative:
Written off (damaged beyond repair) due to aborted takeoff from Saint-François Airport, an airport serving Saint-François, a town at the southeastern tip of Grande Terre island in Guadeloupe. Of the four persons (pilot and three passengers) on board, all survived, but one passenger was seriously injured. According to a rough translation from French into English of the official French BEA report:

"ACCIDENT
Occurred on the aircraft registered N4395X
Event: missed take-off.
Identified cause: non-compliance with aircraft take-off limitations.
Consequences and damage: an injured passenger, aircraft destroyed.
Aircraft: Piper PA 32 R-300 "Cherokee 6" aircraft.
Date and time: Sunday, 7 September 1997 at 11 am.
Operator: company.
Location: AD St François (971) Runway 11 lined, distance
available at take-off: 650 m.
Nature of the flight: travel.
Persons on board: pilot + 3.
Titles and experience: pilot 50 years, TT of 1980, 800 hours of flight
including 58 carried out on type within three months
Meteorological conditions: estimated at the accident site: wind 200 degrees to 210 degrees/ 20 to 30 knots, gusts to 35 knots. Visibility greater than 15 km, temperature 29 degrees C.
Circumstances
The pilot took off with three passengers, thirty kilos of luggage and fuel. The gases are set gradually and the flaps positioned at 10 degrees. The plane begins to rise just before the end of the runway but does not have enough height to cross the vegetation. The pilot decides to interrupt the take-off in reducing gases. The aircraft then touches shrubs before crashing 150 meters after the end of the runway.
Notes:
The manufacturer's data have not been able to calculate the exact performance during this take-off. With a tail wind of 05 knots and flaps brakes at 25 degrees, the crossing distance of the 15 meters is of the order of 660 meters.
For this type of equipment, the demonstrated crosswind limit is 17 knots.
