Narrative:
Simmonds Spartan Cruiser Mk.II; Registered as G-ACVT (C of R 5210) 4.7.34 to Spartan Air Lines Ltd, Heston Aerodrome, Heston, Middlesex. C of A 4442 issued 2.8.34. Transferred 10.35 to British Airways Ltd, London SW.1; formally registered to them (C of R 6702) 5.2.36. Aircraft based at Eastleigh, Southampton.

Transferred 17.5.36 to Northern & Scottish Airways Ltd., Moorpark Aerodrome, Renfrew. However, this move was not formally recorded on Air Ministry records.

Written off after over-running on landing on the Isle of Skye on wet grass 25.7.36. On landing, the three engine aircraft went out of control and came to rest. While all three occupants (pilot and two passengers) were unhurt, the aircraft was damaged beyond repair. Registration G-ACVT cancelled 2.12.36 due to "destruction or permanent withdrawl from use of aircraft".

NOTE: Several sources quote G-ACVT as having been written off when it crashed at Ronaldsway, Isle of Man on 23.3.36 when still with British Airways. However, The four surviving Cruisers were then taken over by Northern and Scottish Airways Ltd., Renfrew, from mid-1936, continuing in service to the Highlands and Islands until the outbreak of war. From June 1938 they did so under Scottish Airways ownership, three being impressed by the RAF in April 1940: G-ACSM as X9433, G-ACYL as X9431 and G-ADEL as X9432. G-ACVT being the exception. having been written off 25.7.36 as per the above.
