Narrative:c/no. 471: DH.60X [Cirrus II] Moth: registered as G-EBUU [C of R 1506] 27.10.27 to The Scottish Flying Club Ltd, Moorpark, Renfrew. C of A 1234 issued 31.10.27; delivered 2.11.27 but initially displayed in a Glasgow warehouse for one month before entering service 3.12.27.
Written off when crashed at Glasgow Renfrew Airport 21.5.28. Aircraft spun out of control while attempting a loop. The crew was completing a training flight out from Glasgow-Renfrew Airport. Both pilots were injured and the aircraft was destroyed.
Registration G-EBUU cancelled 2.9.28 due to "destruction or permanent withdrawal from use of aircraft"
NOTE: Reports that the pilot of Moth G-EBUU was killed are confusing this incident with the crash of an Avro 504N of 602 (City of Glasgow) Squadron, Royal Auxiliary Air Force, at Gleniffer Braes, near Paisley, on the same day. That aircraft also crashed while attempting a loop at low/insufficient altitude, killing the pilot Flying Officer James Pearson Drew (aged 24) - see separate entry
