Narrative:Crashed after a sortie over Iceland in the Benevenagh Mountains. All nine crew members died in the crash.
Consolidated B-24 Liberator FL977 (ex 42-63923 ) of No. 59 Sqn RAF was returning to RAF Ballykelly after a combat mission over Iceland. The aircraft crashed into Binevenagh during its third attempt to land, killing all nine crewmembers onboard.[24/06/1944)
