During the ninth landing of the day, in the middle of Lake Biscarrosse, the pilot of the float-equipped Piper PA-18-150 Super Cub lost control during the flare. The sinking of the right wing as well as the lack of effectiveness of the ailerons, described by the pilot, suggest that the airplane stalled asymmetrically. The pilot failed to regain control of the aircraft prior to contact with the surface of the water. The floats broke on impact and the aircraft sank rapidly.
