The aircraft, an experimental Jack R Elvin Jr amateur built Rotorway Exec 162F, sustained substantial damage subsequent to a tail rotor strike during the takeoff attempt from open field terrain in Linn County south of Scio, Oregon.
The sole owner/builder/pilot onboard the helicopter was not injured.
