During a combat mission, IL-2 of 999 ShAP was shot down by Flak near Groß Lindenau, Ostpreussen (now Oserki, Kaliningrad Oblast). Lt Mikhail Ivanovich Komarov (pilot) and Sergeant Victor Yakovlevich Stepanenko (air gunner) was killed.
