Narrative:
Hawker Sea Fury TF898: Fourth production Sea Fury, of the first production batch of 50 (TF895-TF928, and TF940-TF955). To CS(A) (Controller Supplies (Aircraft)) charge at Hawker Aircraft, Langley, Berkshire on 25.9.1947 for Trials Installations of larger elevator and tailplane. To "C" Squadron, A&AEE Boscombe Down, Wiltshire for short term-loan (brief handling trails of larger elevator and tailplane).

Written off (damaged beyond repair) 23.4.48 on a test flight from Boscombe Down. The aircraft was engaged in a series of handling tests and glide approaches. On approach, the pilot stalled the Sea Fury from an altitude of 10 feet agl (above ground level); the aircraft landed heavily, and the undercarriage was buckled. Although the Sea Fury was repairable, it was not repaired and eventually scrapped.
