Narrative:
On May 2, 2023, about 2013 central daylight time, a Zenith STOL CH750, N750TK, sustained substantial damage when it was involved in an accident near Udall, Kansas. The pilot was not injured. The airplane was operated as a Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations Part 91 personal flight.

The pilot reported that while enroute to Cook Airfield (K50) he made a left turn and the engine “stumbled.” The pilot estimated he was about 1,000 ft above ground level when the loss of engine power occurred. The pilot maneuvered the airplane for a forced landing to a road.

During the landing attempt, the airplane struck a powerline resulting in substantial damage to the vertical stabilizer. Engine power was restored, and the pilot continued to K50 for an uneventful landing. The airplane was retained for further examination.
