Narrative:
Joint Rescue Coordination Centre (JRCC) Trenton advised of the crash of a Greg Martineau Projects Robinson R44 II (C-FTJG), north of Canmore, AB at approximately 2320Z. The crash site was at 5111.4N 11517.28W. There were no reported injuries among the 4 souls on board. Search and rescue located the site via emergency locator transmitter (ELT) signal and extracted the occupants. Unknown damage to the aircraft. Point of departure and destination unknown., 2015-07-21 - UPDATE: JRCC SARSUM Trenton Report#[T2015-01218]: (514645N 1144062W - CFN7: SUNDRE, AB). 406 emergency locator transmitter (ELT) picked up by search and rescue satellite aided tracking (SARSAT) on R44 (C-FTJG). No open flight plans. No ELT picked up by other aircraft. During the investigation, received a call that the helicopter crashed North of Canmore, AB near Stenton Lake. 4 persons on board (POB) with no injuries. The occupants were picked up by Kananaskis Rescue helicopter and transported to Canmore without further incident. Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), Transportation Safety Board (TSB), Aviation Operations were all advised. Civil Air Search and Rescue Association (CASARA) Red Deer tasked but stood down prior to departure. ELT was turned off. , 2016-05-27 - Follow-up information received from Enforcement: A Civil Aviation Safety Inspector (CASI) has reviewed this occurrence and the appropriate action has been taken., 2015-07-21 - UPDATE: TSB Report#A15W0106: The private Robinson R44 II helicopter, C-FTJG, with one crew member and three passengers on board, was making a low pass over a bear?s den in the vicinity of Stenton Lake, AB, 6.5 NM north of the town of Canmore, AB, when the aircraft collided with the ground. The pilot and passengers sustained only bumps and bruises but the helicopter was substantially damaged.
