Narrative:de Havilland DHC-1 Chipmunk 22 G-BVZZ: Substantially damaged 28 May 2023 in a taxying accident at Middle Wallop Airfield, Stockbridge, near Andover, Hampshire. The incident was the subject of an AAIB Correspondence-only Report dated 10 August 2023, and the following is the summary from that report:
"While taxiing to clear the grass runway after landing, the tail wheel aircraft struck the runway marker sign situated at the edge of the peri track, causing significant damage to the underside of the aircraft".
DHC-1 Chipmunk G-BVZZ was built as a military aircraft as WP795, delivered in 1952. It was civil registered as G-BVZZ on 5 January 1995
