Narrative:THE PILOT REPORTED HAVING AN ENGINE FAILURE AT 2,500 FEET WHILE ENROUTE TO DALLAS, TX FROM MCALLEN, TX. HE WAS UNABLE TO RESTART THE ENGINE AND HAD TO MAKE AN EMERGENCY LANDING IN A FIELD THREE MILES WEST OF WEST, TX. THE AIRCRAFT RECEIVED SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE TO THE MAIN GEAR AND PROPELLER. THE CAUSE OF THE ENGINE FAILURE IS UNDETERMINED. THE PILOT/OPERATOR FORM 6120.1 HAS NOT BEEN RECEIVED AS OF THE DATE OF THIS REPORT.
