DURING ARRIVAL, THE PLT EXTENDED HIS TRAFFIC PATTERN TO ALLOW ANOTHER ACFT TO DEPART. HE REPORTED THAT AFTER HE TURNED ON FINAL APCH, HIS ACFT ENCOUNTERED A DOWNDRAFT & HIT THE GROUND SHORT OF THE RWY.
