THE ACFT ENCOUNTERED A DOWNDRAFT WHILE FLYING THROUGH A MOUNTAIN PASS. THE TERRAIN WOULD NOT ALLOW THE PLT TO MAKE A 180DEG TURN SO HE ELECTED TO LAND ON A ROAD WITH THE LANDING GEAR RETRACTED.
