DURING A NIGHT LANDING, THE AIRCRAFT TOUCHED DOWN ABOUT 220 FT SHORT OF THE APPROACH END OF THE RUNWAY. REPORTEDLY, THE WHEELS STRUCK A "WASHOUT" AND THE PLANE WAS SUBSTANTIALLY DAMAGED.
