Narrative:c/no 7037: To Moensch & Fils, France with C of A 4211 issued 10.3.34. Registered in France as F-AMXO [C of R 3713] 9.4.34 to SA Etablissements Moench & Fils, Nancy; named "Alsa" [after owner's company]. Flown by Christian Moench (of Aero Club de I'Est) and Jean Latinot from Marseilles to Antananarivo, Madagascar, departing 24.10.34, arriving 30.10.34; returned to France 24.11.34.
Registration cancelled 1.37 as sold abroad. Re-registered in Holland as PH-VYG [C of R 240] 18.1.37 to NV National Luchtvaart School, Ypenburg. Impressed into LVA (Royal Netherlands Army Air Corps) as 961 on 29.9.39. Registration cancelled 18.1.43.
Stored during war. Given new serial ML101. Overhauled [in late 1945] at Fokker works, Amsterdam by William Gabes' uncle & Fokker pilot Gerben Sonderman and was flown to a farm at Haarlemmermeer. Registered PH-NCP 2.1.48; based Eelde.
Force-landed near Laschendorf, then in the Soviet Occupied Zone of Germany 25.9.48 after getting lost en-route
Pilot W E Molema and 2 passengers J. Ubink, chief editor of the newspaper "het Nieuwsblad van het Noorden" and paint dealer O. Wedema of Groningen took off from the NNAC airfield at Groningen on 25 Sept 1948, flying towards Copenhagen. Allegedly the pilot lost direction and was forced/chose to land in a field in the Russian occupied zone of Germany near Laschendorf/Schwerin.
While landing the left wheel hit a ditch and broke off. Some other minor damage and apparent bullet holes in the fuselage where later found. All three passengers were allowed to return to the Low Countries after the mediation of Dutch representatives in Germany, but PH-NCP had to stay behind the "Iron Curtain". The aircraft was later (in October 1949) sent back to the Netherlands by rail and had the engine removed while in East Germany.
The aircraft was taken off the registers on 7 April 1952. The damaged airframe was "repaired" with a piece of sheet and served as a eye-catcher in a playground in Glimmen bij Eelde in the fifties, but was later scrapped.
Lachendorf (West Low German: Lachendörp) is a municipality in the district of Celle, in Lower Saxony, Germany. It is situated approximately 10 km east of Celle.
