Narrative:
Take off at 19:02 hrs for a bombing operation against Neuss, Germany.
Homeward-bound, the aircraft was shot down by the night fighter crew of Hauptmann Modrow & Feldwebel Schneider of the 1./NJG 1, who were flying Heinkel He 219 A-2 G9+HH from Münster-Handorf airfield in Germany.
Four crew members were able to bail out and survived.
The three remaining crew members perished:
Sgt Nutbrown was initially buried in Weert Cemetery
Reinterred 21 August 1946
Flt Sgt Barnes was part of Trupp 40. He arrived at Bankau on 20 October 1944

Sgt Nutbrown’s parachute failed to open resulting in his death.
