Narrative:Crashed under unknown circumstances during a bombing raid on Berlin, Germany.
The aircraft was probably hit by heavy Flak of the 3./Marine-Flak-Abteilung 815 battery Vlieland-West. The Halifax bomber crashed in the IJsselmeer between Urk and Hindeloopen. 23 year old Sgt Alfred Springett is buried in the Protestant Cemetery at Hindeloopen and F/O Francis Moynihan at Lemmer Cemetery, while 19 year old Sgt Eddy Dyer's grave is at Amersfoort (Oud Leusden) General Cemetery. Their other crewmates have no known graves and are commemorated on the Runnymede Memorial near Windsor.
