Outward-bound, the aircraft was shot down by night fighter pilot Oberleutnant Egmont Prinz zur Lippe-Weissenfeld of the 5./NJG 2, who was flying a Bf 110 F-4.
Flt Sgt Hutchinson body was washed ashore between Oudeschild and Nieuweschild on 12 June 1942 at 1900 hrs. Sgt McGrath body was found in the sea near Oudeschild on 4 June 1942 at 0730 hrs:
