Takeoff at 23:59 hrs for participation in the first 1000 bomber raid with target Köln, Germany.
The aircraft was shot down by the night fighter crew of Oberleutnant Reinhold Knacke & Unteroffizier Helmut Fischer of the 1./NJG 1, who were flying Bf 110 G9+AH from Venlo airfield.
The crew bailed out except for one crew member, Sgt. Kenneth Manley died in the crash and is buried at Jonkerbos War Cemetery, the Netherlands. *Sgt Lowman was killed on 19 April 1945 when Allied fighter bombers strafed the Prisoner of War column:
