Narrative:
Written off 22/7/1964 when crashed due to an inverted Spin. Crashed into the drained Llyn Celyn reservoir, near Blaenau Ffestiniog, Wales. (At the time of the crash the reservoir was still under construction, it was not completed and filled until 21/10/1965). The Pilot of XR978 ejected OK. Instructor ejected, but was discovered to be badly injured, when he was found on the hilllside at Mynydd Nodol, on the southern shore of the reservoir site.
