Mosquito PZ249: Took off at 17:40 hrs from RAF Little Snoring. Landing in Juvincourt at 19:10 hrs. 01/04/1945
After refuelling took off at 23:15 hrs for Leipheim airfield in company with S/Ldr Penny and his nav. P/O Whitfield. Both pilots exchanged R/T calls, the last contact being made at 01:36 hrs. 02/04/1945.
At 01:39 hrs S/Ldr Penny saw a violent explosion on the ground at, or nr Leipheim and at first thought Lt van heerden gad claimed an enemy aircraft, but when no replies to his congratulations were forthcoming, he concluded it was the Mosquito he had seen explode. Shot down by AA 20mm Flak 38.
