Narrative:Boeing B-29-35-MO Superfortress 44-27264: Built under licence by Glenn L. Martin Company, Omaha, Nebraska. Assigned to 32nd Bomb Squadron, 301st Bomb Wing, Barksdale AFB, Louisiana. Named ‘Wild Goose’
Written off (destroyed) 21 November 1951: The crew was completing a local training sortie at Barksdale AFB when on final approach, an engine failed. The heavy bomber christened 'Wild Goose' stalled and crashed short of runway threshold, due to mechanical failure while landing. There were no casualties but the aircraft was destroyed.
Cause: Engine failure on final approach.
